4 June 2020: Kia ora, The Halberg team has settled back into our Auckland and regional offices, and we're enjoying being able to reconnect with the community again to meet with whānau and deliver our Halberg Inclusion Training course to local schools and sports organisations. We are, of course, making sure we keep up-to-date with all Ministry of Health and Sport New Zealand guidelines and are implementing appropriate safety measures following their advice.

24 April 2020: New Zealand has made it through four weeks of lockdown and we would like to extend our gratitude to all the hard-working essential workers as well as the parents and caregivers who are keeping their whānau safe at home. Well done to you all for making it through what I’m sure has been a challenging time, and adapting to a new way of living - hopefully there have been positive learnings and some moments of inspiration along the way too. It’s been a busy four weeks for the Halberg team under Level 4 adapting our work and programmes and planning for the next stages of alert levels. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

The Halberg Foundation is looking forward to hosting the 2019 Halberg Games on 11-13 October at King’s College in Auckland. As you may be aware there have been a high number of measles cases reported in the last month, with a majority in the Auckland region. At this stage, the Ministry of Health has recommended event organisers do not cancel events such as concerts, sports events, festivals, or other public congregations. However, organisers are asked to liaise closely with their local DHBs and public health units for the latest advice.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated on 3 December each year. The theme for 2015 is: "Inclusion matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities”. The Foundation is pleased to announce that YMCA Auckland has confirmed its 500 staff at 16 facilities have signed up for a Halberg NET - a course on providing sport and recreation activities to all New Zealanders across various abilities and skill sets.
